BLACK SWAN(2010)

I was torn when I first heard about this film. My favorite actress teaming up with one of my least favorite directors(Darren Aronofsky). Natalie Portman gives a fantastic performance in a movie that is actually directed very well for his interpretation. The only problem is that Aronofsky's interpretation is fucking boring. Aronovsky uses his own odd and different techniques to tell a basic story. His vision of two dancers battling for the title role in "Swan Lake" is dark and crazy. I can see how it will get critical praise, because of it's unique approach to telling an old story. I just don't see a good movie in his adaptation. I couldn't wait for it to end and that's never a good sign. I was never intrigued or cared what happened to either dancer. This movie is strange and dark and nothing more.

Two dancers compete for the title role in "Swan Lake". If only the movie was as easy as the plot summary.

I wouldn't recommend this to anyone that likes to be entertained at the movies. A rental at best! I tried to like it, but not one bit of entertainment value in this movie.

GROWN UPS(2010)

I have an idea for Adam Sandler's next comedy. How about making a comedy that's funny. His movies are all the same. They all stick to the same formula. Family fun and try for the heart warming ending.

"Grown Ups" has a decent cast, but no humor at all. It's an updated version of "The Great Outdoors". Sandler is at his best when he's goofy and doesn't try to make a family movie. His first two movies were silly, stupid, and didn't really make a lot sense. That's how an Adam Sandler comedy is supposed to be. There is nothing worse than watching a comedy and not laughing once.

An old group of friends have a reunion when there child hood basketball coach dies. This leads to the families all staying in a cabin and becoming friends again.

Unless you liked "Little Nicky", then I wouldn't recommend this movie to you. "I award you no points and may god have mercy on your soul"if you did like "Little Nicky".

BROOKLYN'S FINEST(2009)

Another cop drama from Antoine Fuqua(Training Day). I didn't think "Training Day" was all that great either, but it was way better than this follow up. It's been all down hill for Antoine Fuqua since his critically acclaimed debut.

The movie tells the stories of 3 different cops in the Brooklyn Police Department. Some corrupt, some undercover and one suicidal. Really boring and pointless stuff. Way too long and slow. You don't really care what happens to any of them at the end of the movie. I was just happy that I got to the end of the movie. This style of movie has been done better and more interesting in the past.

I'd pass on this movie unless you need help sleeping.

THE BOUNTY HUNTER(2010)

Let me just say that I'm one of the few guys that doesn't mind romantic comedies. You know exactly what's going to happen, but yet they still usually are watchable. "The Bounty Hunter"is one of the few that just doesn't work on any level. No romance. No comedy. No excitement. It tries on all of those categories, but fails miserably.

Gerard Butler is a bounty hunter that has to bring in Jennifer Aniston, his former wife. She is a hot shot reporter on the verge of busting open a murder case, which causes her to miss her court date and making her a fugitive in the process. They get chased the whole time and fall into love. The end.

Pretty stupid and boring at the same time. Not a good combination for a movie. I can't recommend this movie to anyone.

DAY BREAKERS(2010)

I don't know why I continue to watch films that are released in January? The best thing I can say about this movie is that it's not terrible. It is definitely not good though. Another Vampire film, but this seems more like it was made for television.

Vampires are the evolved species in the near future and they are running out of blood, so they are trying to come up with a blood substitute. While rebel humans are being targeted for their blood. A sympathetic Vampire teams up with the humans and discover a cure, but it turns out the head vampire doesn't want a cure, because he prefers the powers he has as a Vampire and so they fight and it's over. Pretty stupid and boring.

I personally wouldn't advise this movie to anyone, but there are worse movies out there.

MAX PAYNE

I feel sorry for Marky Mark. From "The Departed" and oscar nominee to this pile of dung? I've never played the game, but I know that it's bloody and has lot's of killing and this showed really none of it. It's PG-13! "Live Free or Die Hard" pulled it off with some great editing, but this isn't close. The story is so broken it's not even funny. The so called twist I could've figured out when I was in diapers and most of all it's boring and no fun! Give me some killing with some fun camera angles and maybe some blood. I can say that I liked some of the photography, but the snow shots are a little much after the 100th time. This feels like it got slapped together and it shows. Save your money for "The Dark Knight" on DVD and Blu-Ray.

BANGKOK DANGEROUS

They chose to make a remake of this film? That baffles me. Oh, Nic Cage where have you gone? This movie really has no redeeming qualities about it. It's got no point, but even if it did, I don't think anyone would care. Cage plays an assasin that while in Bangkok has a change of heart. I know you think you've seen this story before and you sort of have. The main difference is that those other movies all that happened early and spent the rest of the movie escaping the life. This whole movie is one slow moving moment to get to his change and then it's pretty much over. I beg of you, don't watch this film. Watch "The Dark Knight" again! I know I did. I try and defend some of Nic Cage's choices, but his last couple are too hard for me to defend.

IN THE NAME OF THE KING: A DUNGEON SIEGE TALE

This movie is as terrible as the name! It's a Uwe Boll film and that's all you need to know. He's known as the worst director still working. I've seen a couple of his films, all video game adaptations. All terrible, seriously you can't get much worse than his films. I never thought he was getting a fair shake, but he's by far the worst director I've ever seen. It's hard to explain without watching one of his films. Bad acting and story telling. His films just never seem to mesh and make much sense. Anyone who thinks Michael Bay or Mc G or bad directors haven't seen anything yet. They might not be the best character and story directors, but they are competent at what they do. I really don't think this Uwe Boll guy has a clue.

I'd say watch one of his films, so you can truly understand what I'm talking about. Theres a difference between being a so called "bad director" and simply not knowing what you're doing. Somebody tell me how he still makes movies and better yet somebody tell me why I'm still watching them?
