YOUTH IN REVOLT(2010)

Another movie that got delayed until the dreadful January release date. I now know why. This film is not funny at all and that makes all the other problems magnified. Michael Cera is playing Michael Cera again! One of those comedies that is dumb, but if it makes you laugh then it's o.k.. This was painful to watch. The 80 plus minutes seemed like an eternity while watching this film. This should've been straight to DVD, because I honestly can't remember a more boring comedy?

Michael Cera should only be in sequels to "Superbad". Or he could learn how to deliver a line in a different matter or style?

I can't recommend this movie to anyone. Even if you laugh at every comedy out there, this film might only make you laugh a little bit.

AN EDUCATION(2009)

I have been waiting to watch this film, since it's had a little Oscar buzz around it. Just a coming of age story of a high school girl who gives up her academic education for a real life education. With a guy that shows her glitzy lifestyle. She soon learns more about the real world than she is ready for.

I liked this film overall, but I'm not ready to say it deserves tons of accolades. A great cast and a good time piece, but it just lacked that certain entertainment value.

I would recommend this film to most people. If you only like action and explosions than this might not be for you.(Edwards & Worm)

UNIVERSAL SOLDIER: REGENERATION(2009)

Another straight to DVD release, but I had much higher hopes for this film. I was a big fan of the original "Universal Soldier"movie. They brought back Van Dam and Lundgren, but in smaller roles. This movie really has no identity and just is sort of there. It's a nice distraction for 90 minutes, but grow tiresome and has no meaning. It's not a terrible movie, but far from good.

If you liked the original, then maybe this is a rental for you. I'd stay away if you don't like dumb action films with Lot's of guns and some gore.

AMERICAN PIE PRESENTS:THE BOOK OF LOVE(2009)

I knew a straight to DVD wasn't going to be a good movie, but I gave it a chance and I'm sorry that I did. Close to the same premise as the original film, but with a terrible script and no heart. The actors are terrible too! The new Stifler makes Sean William Scott look like an academy award winner. Stifler literally get's raped by a Moose in the movie. That's how bad it was. Not funny and a waste of time. At least this was a straight to DVD movie.

I don't recommend this movie to anyone. "American Wedding" was way better than this and that barely belongs in the trilogy in my opinion.

THE BOOK OF ELI(2010)

The first month of the year is where movies go to die. Most films that are released in January are either pushed back or just not good enough to live up to other films that are released later on in the year.

I thought "The Book of Eli" could overcome that distinct title and it barely does. While not excellent in any aspect of the film, it is good in some parts. Denzel does not disappoint as usual. This is no "Man on Fire", but a more meaningful film. Slow at times but good action scenes that are not over the top. The story is a basic mission about faith and belief.

I would say that it's a rental for sure, but it may be a little too slowly paced for some.

LOVE HAPPENS(2009)

A romantic dramedy starring Jennifer Aniston and Aaron Eckhart. I think this film takes itself too seriously. It's your basic romantic comedy but without the normal cheerful tone. Until the end that is. It tries to be a serious drama, but fails and turns out to be your everyday chick flick.

I remember when this was filmins in Seattle and Jennifer Aniston put her gum on the wall outside the Public Market. That's in the film along with every other Seattle tourism site. It's a good look at Seattle, but it doesn't really make the film any better.

I think most viewers will tolerate this film, but there's nothing really to love either.

I'M BACK!

I just finished the busiest year of my life, which isn't really saying much. I thought now that my complete round-up was finished, I could continue to try and update everyone on the many films that I watch during the year.

I have seen six films since I wrote my year review a few weeks ago and so I'm going to just update my entire list of 2009 films.

On a side note. I was really shocked and pleased that "The Hangover" won best movie(comedy or musical) at the Golden Globes this year. I was shocked that it was even nominated.
